MARA CAMMI ORSI
My work at the college has developed through my interests in
children's literature and and has taken two directions :
illustration and photography.
The artists that influenced
my way of working are Maurice Sendac, David Hockney,
M.C. Escher, they all feel the real world as
a restriction and they try to overcome its
flatness in different ways.
As a graphic
designer I will try to work on children's book illustrations .
I normally utilise mixed techniques : I do work with collage, watercolor
and acrylics as well. Sometimes I build a paper toy theatre,
draw the characters and take photograph of it :
I combine in this way my drawing and photography skills.
I also love to write children's stories .
The first image you'll find here is about a story of a little boy made of the dust,
who is wandering over the city during the night. (Collage and mixed technique).
The second image is from a project about stage design which I called :
'Kopera or Opera for a kitchen - Pasta in tomato sauce '.
The characters, which I borrowed from the Italian masks of
"Commedia dell'Arte" are the ingredients of this play, and Pulchinella
is the cook. (china ink, watercolour, photographed).
In the photography field I am very interested in stage photography.
