I will begin with a short introduction on my background. I was born in England, brought up in Hong Kong, from the ages of 5 months to 5 years. I have remained in England since.

I had a brilliant childhood in Hong Kong and have enjoyed learning about the country every time I visit. For this reason I have decided to pursue my first career in Hong Kong. Being Chinese, educated in a western society, I can picture the world with two points of view, both Eastern and Western. Having a cross-cultural identity is something that I believe would help me along my career path.

Hong Kong is a country where the West meets East at typhoon speed and it will be a challenge to begin my career in such a fast moving country. Many people constantly ask me whether there will be considerable change in Hong Kong after 1st July 1997. That I cannot say. I only hope the Change Over would not affect the people of Hong Kong too much. In order to stay in the country I adore, I am willing to work hard.

The final year of my BA Graphic's course was the time where I truly became aware of the methods and familiarity of my work. Through various briefs,

I have mainly solved solutions using two dimensional methods, deriving from conceptual ideas by means of three dimensions. At the same time learning through the different stages and becoming more aware of my potentials and disabilities.

How would I describe my work? Most of the time, we take the objects around us for granted. I.e. Most of us come across a toothbrush day and night. We use it, but we never consider the fact how much time and effort people have used into designing such an effective product - constantly improving the design, making sure it is up to standard.

I portray my work in a similar fashion - exciting, but minimal. Much of my work is involved with identity and packaging. Packaging, not in the sense where you find a product and make it complete by designing a box for it, but packaging by creating a new identity, by portraying a product in an altogether different fashion. Mainly with objects or even feelings and situations, which seem so ordinary, but when carefully thought about and broken down becomes exciting.

I enjoy working with assorted materials - my speciality is working with cardboard, acetate and latex. I am extremely careful about my choice of materials. I believe that apart from the concept, the choice of materials and the choice of colour part an important part to the production of a piece of work.

Apart from aesthetically good looking, I hope those who have a chance to see my work will also be able to understand the ergonomics and concept involved.
